Poco announced the launch of its budget M5 smartphone today. The Poco M5 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and features a 50 MP triple camera setup, a 5,000mAh battery and a “premium leather-like design.”
Poco M5: Specifications and features
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC built on a 6nm architecture. It has eight ARM Cortex A76 cores with a clock speed of up to 2.2 GHz and an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 graphics card. It comes with either 4GB or 6BG of LDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
The Poco M5 has a 6.58-inch 90Hz FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a 2400X1080 resolution. The display automatically adapts between 30Hz, 60Hz, and 90Hz refresh rates depending on the usage and has a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone’s display also comes with built-in reading and sunlight modes. The latter is aimed at situations where the phone has to be used in direct sunlight.
The Poco M5 comes with a triple camera setup that features a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone’s front camera is an 8MP unit. Its 5,000 mAh battery supports 18W fast charging through the charger included in the box. According to Poco, the phone’s large battery can last for up to 2 days. The phone is 8.9 mm thick and comes in three colour variants: Poco Yellow, Icy Blue, and Power Black.
Poco M5: Price and availability
The 4GB+64 GB variant of the Poco M5 will cost Rs 12,499, while the 6GB+128GB variant will cost Rs 14,499. The phone will be available on Flipkart starting September 13. For a limited time period, as part of the Big Billion Day sale, ICICI and Axis Bank card users will be able to avail of a flat Rs 1,500 discount, meaning they can get the base variant at Rs 10,999 and the higher variant for Rs 12,999.
